The North Shore United Methodist Church was founded in 1970 with twenty founding members of the First United Methodist Church of Port Jefferson, New York. Elder Napoli serves as resident pastor at the Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

At the Peter Seminary in Texas, he served as chaplain at Rio Grande Hospital in Colorado and as a staff chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Texas. He received his doctorate in ministry from the International University for Religion and Peace in Hartford and completed his clinical training at Norwalk Hospital, both in Connecticut. Ford earned his master's degree in community health administration from Long Island University and his master's degree in theology from Union Theological Seminary.
